Workload/Resource Characterization

The purpose of this article is to give a fairly in-depth overview of the process of workload and/or resource characterization. This is done as part of a performance testing effort. While the details outlined here are just crafted examples and while variance is certainly possible, this gives a general justification at a formal level for two of the core elements of the performance testing effort.
